Challenge
Donating blood is a gesture of civic responsibility and national service. Since the introduction of blood donation in China in 1998, donation drives have gone from paid to non-remunerated, reducing a core incentive for donating blood and increasing the importance of promoting voluntary blood donations.
-
Solution
Starting with Chengdu city in Sichuan province, our project’s goal is to promote, publicize and encourage blood donations from all walks of the community. The majority of current donors are college students and local residents, causing a huge decline in blood volume during winter and summer vacations when these groups are on vacation or at home due to adverse weather.
After professional training for our volunteers from the Chengdu Blood Center, we will embark on a promotion strategy through:
Public Exhibitions – To promote and advocate the need for blood donations, the process, and its impact on beneficiaries such as leukemia patients
Rural visits – To educate the rural community on safe and effective blood donations, and to help them clarify misunderstandings or fears
Continued promotion and evaluation throughout the school year. -
