  • Challenge

To put simply, migrant workers across China are often being taken advantage of. Many are not getting fully paid, have insurance problems, and in general possess little knowledge of their basic rights.

  • Solution

The Migrant Worker Justice Project plans to address the above issues in Chongqing city, a hub for migrant workers. After recruiting law school volunteers and consulting with local government agencies and law firms, we plan to educate migrant workers on their basic rights through speeches, lectures, training, discussion forums, and promotional material. Information may include labor contract law, fraud prevention, basic labor rights, common holidays dedicated to migrant workers, and other obligations that the government and employers should abide by. Last but not least, our research on current conditions and informational content will be compiled into a document for the government of Chongqing City Government.
