Objective To open up a world of reading for Children Left Behind

• Challenge

  In China, there are over 20 million rural children and teenagers left behind by parents seeking work in the cities, over 17 million of whom are under the age of 14. These children’s daily lives are affected on multiple levels - their education, studies, personal and moral development, sense of belonging and security are constantly at risk.

• Solution

  Our team hopes to resolve some of these issues by hosting a series of personal development and community building activities such as story readings, journal writing sessions, reflection sharing, informal chat groups, and so on. It is our hope that through opening their minds and sharing their feelings and aspirations with one another, these children will feel a stronger sense of belonging in society.
