Project Name 100% Child Safety

• Challenge

  Death from accidents is one of China’s leading causes for child fatalities – indeed, summer vacation is often a prime season for these accidents. To promote child safety, government and schools have instituted efforts like safety classes, but these are usually quite rigid, hard to ignite a child’s interest, and neglect to offer any guidance for parents.

• Solution

  Child Safety 100% aims to use the summer vacation to promote awareness of child safety in a more innovative way, particularly to children aged 6-12 and their parents. Our team will first run a series of surveys in Hefei city to assess the level of safety awareness of children and parents, then tailor our Child Safety 100% curriculum accordingly.
  Our interactive classes will take place in a makeshift “Children’s Safety Station” in the city center, which will include:
  - Instructive Flash game introducing the 10 most common child hazards and how to respond to them
  - Safety Signs Display of various safety signs and their meanings
  - Fire Extinguisher 101 display of different types of fires, and proper extinguishing techniques
  - LifeSaver 101 to teach CPR, breath resuscitation, etc.
  - Drawing activity where children express their own idea of safety
  - Distribution of child safety materials such as brochures and stickers
