Objective To Build and Develop an interactive English-learning Model for Children in rural Shaanxi

• Challenge

  In recent years, the underdeveloped Western region of China and its lack of educational development have been a rising concern. The wealth gap between China’s East and West continues to increase, and this cycle will be perpetuated unless the rural population in the West builds a stronger foundation for education.

• Solution

  Much like small drops of water can accumulate into a big pool, our objective is to plant the seed for a participatory, interactive English-learning model in Yongshou County, rural Shaanxi. We will first run a series of family visits and community surveys to better understand local educational needs and the existing English curriculum design. With our team of pre-trained Xian university students, we then plan to introduce a participatory English learning model to Yongshou County, designed to raise children's interest in learning English and cultivate basic verbal English skills. We also hope to spread the spirit of volunteerism to college students and advocate the support from organizations in the rural areas.
