Challenge
Supermarkets in local communities often have goods with damaged packaging, which are perfectly usable but cannot be sold to consumers. At the same time, there are marginal groups living below the poverty line who can benefit greatly from these goods.
-
Solution
To prevent such wastage and, more importantly, to pass on unwanted goods to those who truly need them, our team plans to collect such products from supermarkets to distribute to the poor.
Through partnerships with supermarkets , our team will collect damaged, poorly packaged goods or goods near expiry date, at discounted prices or for free. These goods will then be distributed in 2 ways: certain raw materials will be given to children’s homes and schools to be turned into handicraft products and sold at charity sales; other goods will be sold directly to welfare groups at discounted prices. Proceeds from these sales will then be used to purchase necessary educational resources for poor children, or to be donated to Sichuan to help rebuild homes.
